Forteresse de Montbazon
To 15 minutes walk from our hotel
If you love history and castles, lords and knights, sieges and battles, or capes and swords, come and discover the Forteresse du Faucon Noir in Montbazon in the Indre-et-Loire department, just 15 minutes on foot from the hotel. Why is this fortress called the “Faucon Noir” (Black Falcon)? It is the nickname given to Fulk III (aka Foulques Nerra), Count of Anjou, considered to be one of the greatest feudal lords and a fierce combatant.
Step back in time and explore the history of this incredible place. In summer, demonstrators will show and explain the techniques of tradespeople of the Middle Ages in their workshops, with trades such as weaving, pottery, calligraphy, blacksmithing, stone carving, crossbowmanship and many more.
A visit to the keep and the tunnels, guided through the fortress by a man-at-arms is also available at this same time of year. You can even leave with a work of your own creation in your hands from one of the participatory workshops.
